Hinter Herrn von Faninal und seiner Begleitung hat sich die Türe links geschlossen. Wirt und Kellner kommen bald darauf leise wieder heraus, holen Medikamente, Karaffen mit Wasser und anderes, das in die Tür getragen und von Sophie in der Türspalte übernommen wird. Bleib’ Sie zum Sakra, hinten dort! MARSCHALLIN kommt gegen links, mit zuwartender Miene den Baron anblickend. OCTAVIAN in Männerkleidung tritt zwischen den Vorhängen hervor, sobald der Baron ihm den Rücken kehrt. War anders abgemacht, Marie Theres’, ich wunder mich!
