預託線量(預託実効線量)とは 簡単にいえば、ある放射性物質を取り込んでしまった(呼吸で取り込んだ、食事などで取り込んだ)とき 取り込み時から将来にわたっる被曝線量(の見積もり)。 取り込んだ物質(セシウム137、ヨウ素131など)あるいは取り込み経路(呼吸、飲食)によって、 取り込まれた物質の挙動がことなる。 呼吸や飲食で体内に入った物質のどれくらいが実際に吸収されるか 代謝によってどれくらい排出されるか 放射性物質自体の半減期による減少 これらを全て計算にいれて、体内に取り込んだ放射性物質が今後どれだけ悪さをするかを推定するための値。 放射線業務に従事する方たちの場合、年間被曝線量を管理する際に、内部被曝については、今後50年にわたる被曝線量を年毎に計算する代わりに、最初の一年に線量を積み上げてしまって、計算しやすくしている(ものと思われる)。預託線量が極端に多い場合、すなわち、放射線による急性障害が懸念される程の被曝の場合(概ね数百mSv以上)、預託の考え方は意味がない。今後の被曝線量の計算をする前に、急性障害に対する対応が緊急で必要である。あくまでも比較的低線量域、つまり晩発性障害のリスクを計算する際に意味があると理解するのが良いのではないだろうか。 晩発性障害は、現在の定説によれば、累積の被曝線量(ミリシーベルト)が効いてくる。つまり1ミリシーベルトを50年に分けて被曝しても、1年でまとめて被曝しても、晩発性障害のリスクは同じという仮定があるために、預託の考え方(将来受けるものをとりあえずまとめて計算しておく)が有効になる。 一般人の場合でも、外部被曝と内部被曝の合計を1ミリシーベルトに抑えるといった場合、外部被曝と預託線量の合計を1ミリにすることで計算を簡単にしている。 基本的な考え方は今後の生涯全体にわたりどれだけの影響があったかで評価するが、おとなの場合、50年、子どもの場合70年を目処にしている。 実際は、ヨウ素131の場合、物理的半減期が8日なので預託線量のほとんどは最初の1年(の最初の数ヶ月)でほとんど被曝してしまう。 セシウム137の場合も、物理的半減期は30年でも生物学的半減期が数十日なので、最初の数年で、預託分をほぼ被曝する。 生物学的半減期、物理学的半減期ともに長い放射性物質を取り込んでしまった場合は、50年(ないし70年)にわたり分割して被曝することになる。 預託線量の求め方 厳密に計算するならば、体に取り込んだ放射性物質の量を臓器ごとに測定して物理学的半減期、生物学的半減期を考慮して将来の被曝線量計算を行えばよさそうに思えるが、実際問題として、臓器ごと、核種毎に細かい測定を行うことは不可能に近い。特にγ線をあまり放出しない核種を体外から調べることはほぼ無理。 多くの場合は、呼吸あるいは飲食により、何ベクレルを取り込んだかを、核種ごとに(吸収度、物理学的半減期、生物学的半減期、放射線の種類などを考慮して)算出された係数をかけ算することで、預託線量を求める。 この係数としては、IRCP publication xx、政府の省令(調べ中)に示されている(値は若干ことなる)。 臓器ごとの等価線量とは 物質のよっては、体の一部に偏って蓄積されるものがある。代表例として、ヨウ素:甲状腺、ストロンチウム:骨。 これらの物質の場合、全身の平均的な線量(特に断りなく預託実効線量といわれる場合、全身の等価線量と考えておいた方が良い、確認可能であれば、全身の等価線量か、特定部位の等価線量かを確認すること)よりも、物質が蓄積する器官の被曝量が極端に大きくなる。例えば、ヨウ素の場合、全身ではマイクロシーベルトオーダーの被曝でも、甲状腺にほとんど集まってしまい、甲状腺ではミリシーベルト単位の被曝となってしまう。器官ごとにどれだけの被曝の影響があるかを評価する場合、組織ごとの等価線量を使う。 原子力災害の場合、特に事故初期はヨウ素被曝が問題となるが、ヨウ素の内部被曝については、全身の等価線量も大事ではあるが、甲状腺等価線量が甲状腺ガンのリスクを知るためには非常に重要となる。福島第一事故の場合のSPEEDI予測データに乳児甲状腺等価線量の分布予想図が含まれるのはこの理由によると思われる。しかし、事故初期に有効な避難、屋内退避、ヨウ素剤の服用が行われたかどうか、非常に疑問が残り、SPEEDIのデータが活用された確証はない。 なお、甲状腺等価線量が100mSvと評価されても、空間線量率では、十マイクロシーベルト/時程度のオーダー(充分に高い線量率ではある)と推定される。 ヨウ素が体内に取り込まれて、甲状腺に濃縮されてしまうため、空間線量率より4桁ほど高い甲状腺等価線量となることに注意。

ベクレル 放射性物質の量を測る単位。1秒あたりいくつの原子が崩壊するかを数える。 放射性物質の量に比例し、放射性物質の半減期に反比例(寿命の長い放射性物質は少しずつしか壊れない)。 例えばベクレル/リットルといえば、1リットルの物質中に、毎秒何個放射性物質が崩壊するかを示す。 ただし、放射線の人に対する影響を測る上では、ベクレルは不適。放射性物質の量を知る単位と理解しておくと良いと思う。 グレイ 放射線のエネルギーを測るための単位。単位重量あたり、どれだけのエネルギーを吸収するかの単位。 単位質量あたり受ける放射線の数に、放射線のエネルギー(例えばγ線でも低エネルギーから高エネルギーのもの まであるため、同じγ線1本でも威力が異なるので、エネルギーを補正する)をかけたもの。 ガンマ線の場合、1グレイ=1シーベルト。 ガンマ線のみ測定する機器の場合、グレイはそのままシーベルトに読み替えて良い。 ガンマ線以外も測定できる機器の場合、グレイとシーベルトは計算が必要。 シーベルト 放射性物質の人に対する影響を測る単位。ベースはグレイ(単位重量あたりのエネルギー)だが、 放射線の種類ごとに人体への悪さ度が違ってくるため、アルファ線、ベータ線、中性子線などの場合、割り増し係数をかけて 放射線の人体に対する影響を測りやすくするための単位。 被曝の危険について、通常シーベルト(ミリシーベルト、マイクロシーベルト、ナノシーベルト)が使われるのは、このため。 なお、シーベルトは単位重量当たりの影響度を示す。体重50キロの人であろうと、体重100キロの人であろうと、1ミリシーベルト被曝、といったら、体重1キロあたりの被曝量が同じ、ということ。 急性障害が出るような超高線量域でない場合、ミリシーベルト/年、マイクロシーベルト/時といった単位は、放射線の影響の目安の値としては大事だが、1年あるいは10年・・・そこに生活した場合、外部から、内部から、都合何ミリシーベルト被曝してしまうのかが、重要な問題。 年間10ミリシーベルトを10年被曝し続けることと、年間100ミリシーベルトを1年被曝することのリスクは同等。 年間20ミリシーベルトの地域に10年住み続ければ、累積線量は200ミリシーベルトに達する。実際は放射能の減衰もあるにしても、年毎の被曝量が累積されていくことは、リスク管理上基本的に押さえておくべきだ。 ※研究者により低線量長期間被曝の方がリスクは低いと主張する人もいるが、低線量の方がリスクはより高いという研究者もいる。ここでは、現在の日本国が準拠しているIRCPの考え方に取りあえず従う他ないだろう。学問的に決着がつかない問題を安全防護の標準に持ち込むことはできない。 なお、個人的にはIRCPの考え方は甘いと考える。無用な被曝は可能な限り避けるに越したことはないと思う。
