脱構築は哲学と文学理論におけるトレンドであるが、近年音楽にも適用される様になっている。この概念の最も明確なルーツは、フランスの理論家ジャック・デリダの1960年代の『Of Grammatology(Derrida 1976)』や『Writing and Difference(Derrida 1978)』の様な古典的テクストに求められ、著しく定義は難しいとはいえ、一般にはテクストの批判的読解と言語の地位への疑義差し挟みをその内容として示唆している。 デリダが方法論やシステムではないと強調するにも拘らず、脱構築はテクストの転覆的(subversive)な読解の仕方と理解され得る。それはあるテクストに「常に・既に」表れている過程を問題とし、脱構築的な読解とはこの過程を、そもそも最も論理的で自然な解釈であっただろうものの反論として、同定し説明するような仕方を指す。 脱構築は構造主義及びポスト構造主義の語法への没頭の中から産まれてきたものであり、ソシュール的言語構造には二項対立の連続であるとして反対する。例えば、明らかに単純な自然/文化、発話/記述の様な区別も良く考えてみれば、優先順位と序列の面で不安定且つ決定的でない。自然は文化に先立つ様に見えなくもないが、我々が自然について考え、解釈する仕方は文化と文化的経験を反映してもいる。この観点からすると、文化は元々の二項対立のヒエラルキーにおいて、自然に取って代わってしまう様に見え得る。この恐らく「脱構築」である様な、二項対立の転覆が方法論を構成しない一方で、デリダは『Positions』として出版されたインタヴューの中で、「単に二項対立を『中和する』のも……この対立の閉じた図式の中に『収まり』それを追認するのも、避ける」様に意図された「ある種の『一般的な脱構築的戦略」」について言及している(Derrida 1981)。むしろ我々は「『一対一』の平和的共存ではなく、一方が他方を支配する又は優位に立つ様な暴力的なヒエラルキーを扱っている」事を認識する必要がある(前掲書41頁)。この事は言語とその使用がこの場合、二項対立内に位置するヒエラルキーを通して定義される力のイメージに彩られているという事を示唆する。音楽においてもデリダの思想のこの面と幾らか同種のものを見出し得る。我々はしばしば、対立する調や主題及びそれらが相互に対立する状態(例えば主調ー属調関係)について口にするが、それは常に、一般的な調概念と、様式やジャンルの束縛という文脈において、「二者の一方が他方を支配する」という認識を反映した解決を見出す。しかし協和音ー不協和音という関係がより不明確な、例えばロマン派やそれ以降(初期モダニズム)の様な音楽においては、その解釈は両者間の関係が変化し、恐らく自らを脱構築し始めているが故により開かれている。また、この種の音楽はしばしば自己反映の中に閉ざされている様に見えるが故に、脱構築的解釈を通じて、その過程と意味に束縛されない評価へと我々を導く。アメリカの音楽学者ローズ・ローゼンガード・スボートニク(Rose Rosengard Subotnik)は「ロマン派の音楽はその脱構築への明瞭な基礎を提供する(Subotnik 1996, 45頁)」と興味深い示唆を行っている。 デリダは他にも種々の術語と概念を導入しており、それが方法論を形成する助けにならないとしても、「一般的な脱構築的戦略」と合致する文献において、一定の割合の使用・言及を勝ち得ている。ここではとりわけその中の2つを検討してみる事にするが、まずは「差延(différance)」である。デリダはこれを語でも概念でもない(Derrida 1981, 39-40頁)と言明しているが、一般的には差異(difference)と延長(deferral)の合成語と理解されている。ガヤトリ・チャクラヴォルティ・スピヴァク(Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak)の言を借りれば、「『差異』と『延長(deferment)』という、フランス語の動詞『différer』の意味を表し、共に削除中の署名(sign under erasure)という特性を持つ2つの語をしてデリダは『差延』と呼ぶ。(Spivak 1976, 序文43頁)」この差異と延長の合成語は音楽と音楽学における、例えば、我々はどの様に音楽の意味を位置付け、解釈するかといったある種の問題を反映し得る。各々の作品は異なるものだが、そこには音楽が実際に意味するだろうものが常に引き延ばされているという感覚がしばしばある。しかし、デリダの「差延」は、過去の構築、距離を通じた歴史の感覚といった、より大きな響きを持っている。我々は過去は現在とは異なる事を知っているが、その分節点はエンドレスに引き延ばされる。この事は種々の音楽の様式とジャンルの区別及び、様式や歴史による時代区分を定義する事の線引きの疑わしさを描き出す(ピリオダイゼーションの項参照)。 デリダはまた、本質(essence)との二項対立についての語りの一部として「代補(supplement)」について言及する。代補とは「足りない要素と予備の要素の両方を意味する。(Subotnik 1996, 65頁)」脱構築の典型的な手法は、あるテクストにおいて付随的だったり周辺的に見えるものへの考察を伴う。これは主要な物語或いは議論を追って行く際にはさっと読み飛ばしてしまう類のものであるが、この瞬間が実際には代補としてテクストを完成させ(足りない要素)、補い(予備の要素)得る。言い換えれば、代補とはもはや補遺的なものではなく、むしろ本質的ですらある。この事は音楽の術語に当てはめ得る。例えば、我々はまずある種の和音や主題的な楽想を、二次的であるとか、音楽の構造的流れへの付け足しであると解釈するが、それはややもすればこの「足りない/予備の要素」の二重性が形成される瞬間かもしれない。 実際この代補の概念を通して、デリダは彼の数少ない音楽への言及を行っている。『グラマトロジーについて』の後半部分はルソーの思想との彼の出会い(啓蒙の項参照)と音楽についての彼特有の考えを含んでいる。ルソーの思想は二項対立の形成と、発話を記述に、自然を文化に優越させる事を原動力としており、その延長で、彼はまた旋律を和声に優先させる。しかしデリダにとっては代補性の論理によって、和声は二項対立の一方の側に留まるのみならず、音楽語法における「足りない/予備の要素」となる事によって、旋律の実質に宿り得る。 上記に述べた様な脱構築の様々な戦略と、そこから示唆される音楽における類推は、そのテクストの細部である言語と構造に表れている。デリダのしばしば引き合いに出される「テクストの外側には何もなく、テクストー外というものも存在しない」という主張は、それ自体の形式主義と自律性によって束ねられたテクストへの思慕として解釈され得る。しかしデリダはテクスト性を制限する代わりに、あらゆるものがテクストである故にテクストー外は存在しないという理解によって到達される、新たに打ち立てられた間テクスト性へとテクストを開く。このテクスト性についての視点は、テクストと言語の狭い境界を爆破する、差延であるところの差異化/延長と一致する。 脱構築は如何に我々が音楽について書き、話すかにより関連を持つ様に見える。その一方、音楽学のテクストは明らかに他の文体同様容易に脱構築され得る故に、脱構築によって実際の音楽と直接関わりを持とうとする際立った最近の試みがある。ローズ・ローゼンガード・スボートニクは「学説的に純粋な脱構築を設計しようというわけではない(Subotnik 1996, 45頁)」として、デリダ同様「方法論」への忌避を引き継いでいる。しかし、『How Could Chopin’s A-Major Prelude Be Deconstructed?』と題された章の中で、彼女はショパンのプレリュード(イ長調作品28-7, 1828-9)についての2つの異なる分析の対照と比較を通じ、「音楽における脱構築がどの様に働き得るかについての具体的デモンストレーション(同掲書41頁)」を提示しようと試みている。しかし、脱構築と音楽についての真に興味深い著作の幾らかは、他の著作への批判的回答という形を採っている事は注目すべきであり、例えばクレイグ・アイリー(Craig Ayrey)の名人芸的なスボートニクへの批判(Ayrey 1998)や、アダム・クリムス(Adam Krims)やクリストファー・ノリス(Christopher Norris)による音楽と脱構築についての概観が挙げられる(Krims 1998b, Norris 1999)。 音楽への脱構築的アプローチの出現は、広義でのポストモダニズムとポスト構造主義の観念と手を取り合っており、伝統的音楽学への大きな挑戦の一部を成している(新音楽学の項参照)。しかし、「脱構築的音楽学(前掲書)」について語る事はまだ時期尚早であろうし、進行中の音楽と音楽学における脱構築的測量が何を産み出し得るかについては幾らか不透明でもあるが、脱構築についての批判的に詳細な読解は、断定的な確実性と思い付きの推定から我々を解放する可能性を秘めている。アラン・ストリート(Alan Street)による、音楽的総体という概念の脱構築は、デリダよりもポール・ドマン(Paul DeMan)にその理論的出発点を置いており(Street 1989, 分析の項参照)、クレイグ・アイリーのスボートニクへの回答は音楽学における脱構築的試みがまだ多くのものをもたらし得る事を示唆している。 更に詳しく:Culler 1983; Norris 1982; Sweeney-Turner 1995; Thomas 1995 差延と代補についての辺りのくだりはデリダを専門としている人の助けが欲しいところです・・・ -- Nemoto (2007-12-24 18 05 17) 名前 コメント
